Description

Series Overview: Wondering how to provide instruction for classes with diverse learners in the math class, ESOL class or science class? Our Addressing the Needs of Diverse Learners in the Adult Education Classroom series has 4 sessions and you are welcome to participate in one or all sessions, but will benefit the most by completing the series.

Session 1: Adressing Learning Barriers in the Math Class

There can be numerous barriers to learning in a math class. How do instructors develop instructional goals, materials and methods that work for all learners not just for individual learners? The diversity of adult learners in our classrooms facilitates the need for Universal Design for Learning (UDL.) In this workshop participants will review the four core ideas of UDL such as "essential for some but good for all;" practice identifying barriers to learning in mathematics instruction; and make necessary adjustments using the core ideas.
